More support for women returning to work with Women’s Career Grants

  • To help reduce the cost of returning to work and unlocking women’s economic security, Queensland women can now access up to $5,000 in grant funding
  • The aim of the grant is to assist with the costs of workwear, childcare, training, recertification, relocation and more to tackle the economic barriers currently preventing women from re-joining the workforce when they want to.
  • An extension of $4 million has been agreed for the Jobs Academy Program, which will support more Queensland women in 2026 and 2027.

Women across Queensland looking to return to the workforce after a career break can now access targeted financial support through the Women’s Career Grant.

The grant offers up to $4,999 to assist with costs associated with re-entering employment – such as training, equipment, or other career development needs.

This initiative will be delivered by Future Women, in partnership with the Queensland Government, and is designed to empower women to take the next step in their professional journey with confidence.

Donna Kirkland MP, State Member for Rockhampton said this initiative will be a game changer for women in our region.

“Empowering women who are ready to re-enter the workforce, and just need that extra support, will have a positive effect in our community. It benefits not only the individual, but also their families, local businesses, and the broader economy,” said Kirkland.

“With many local employers crying out for staff, this grant helps remove barriers and gives women the tools they need to step back into the workforce with confidence. I encourage women in the Rockhampton Electorate to register their interest via the website.”

Applications will open on Monday 3 November 2025 – with grant funding available from 3 November to 30 June 2026, or until all funds have been awarded.
