Donna Kirkland MP, State Member for Rockhampton, is proud to announce that Games On! Election Commitment Funding has been officially secured for two of the region’s beloved grassroots sporting clubs – Gracemere Cubs Junior Rugby League and Netball, and Glenmore Bulls AFL Football Club.

Donna Kirkland MP, State Member for Rockhampton said she is delighted to confirm that the financial agreements have now been signed and delivers on her election commitments, providing long-awaited support for two clubs that play a vital role in our community.

Under the Games On! initiative:

  • The Gracemere Cubs will receive $3 million to design and construct a new clubhouse -supporting not only a growing club, but a growing community. Over the past decade, Gracemere has experienced significant population growth, placing increased pressure on local organisations like the Cubs to meet demand.
  • The Glenmore Bulls will upgrade their football amenities to include dedicated male and female change rooms, reflecting the club’s rising player numbers – especially among female athletes – and its role in hosting visiting teams.

“These clubs have been advocating for financial support for years,” Kirkland added. “Now that funding is secured, they can finally move forward with the facilities they deserve.”

The announcement also addresses past setbacks. Under the previous government, the Glenmore Bulls were promised funding – only to have it withdrawn at the eleventh hour, causing deep frustration and disappointment.

“This is about fairness, respect, and recognising the value of grassroots sport in building stronger, healthier communities,” Kirkland said.
