About this Event...

I am please to invite local CBD Businesses to join Minister for Police, Dan Purdie MP and myself for a business event focused on the issues impacting your business, as well as an update on the Crisafulli Government’s latest landmark crime legislation.

The passing of Expanding Adult Crime, Adult time and Taking a Strong Stance on Drugs and Antisocial Behaviour Bill 2025 is the latest step in this ongoing effort to stamp out the anit-social and criminal behaviour that was allowed to run rampant during Labor’s decade of decline.

The measurers passed by the Crisafulli Government are designed to restore safety in the heart of communities across Queensland, where antisocial behaviour, drug offending, and violence have driven away customers, intimated workers and threatened local economies. A key component of these new laws is the introduction of new Designated Business and Community Precincts in targeted areas across Queensland. These new precincts will:

  • Arm police with stronger tools to immediately remove and ban offenders engaging in disorderly, offensive, threatening, or violent behaviour in key commercial areas.
  • Allow police to issue 24-hour move-on directins to offenders and banning notices of up to one month for repeat or serious offenders

As has been publicly announced, Maryborough, Mackay, Townsville and Cains will be the first areas where a Designatied Business and Communitu Precinct will be declared. future declarions will be made on a case-by-case basis after consutaiotn with affected communities, local governmnet and police on the parameters of the propsed precinct.

This is an opportunity for local CBD Businesses to be part of building the case for the Rockhampton Electorate.
