Donna Kirkland MP has joined the calls for the community to sign their statewide petition for stronger bail laws.
Calling for the next wave of Adult Crime Adult Time laws to be stronger bail, to stop youth criminals flouting Labor’s bail laws and ending up back on the street to reoffend.

Data has revealed the shocking rate at which young criminals are defying their bail conditions in Central Queensland region, as local MPs join the call for bail reform to address Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis.
The data shows that youth criminals in the region who breached their bail, did so, on average more than six times each across 2025.
As of March, there were 325 serious repeat offenders in Queensland, with 25 of those living across the Central Queensland and Sunshine Coast region.
These SROs are well known to police and the justice system but continue to cause havoc as the courts put them back on the street through bail.
Data also reveals 52% of youth criminals across Queensland are reoffending after the courts are bailing them – with Queenslanders paying a high price.
Donna Kirkand MP, State Member for Rockhampton, is adding her voice to calls for stronger bail laws to be the next expansion of Adult Crime, Adult Time, which is now seeing kids being arrested for their dangerous crimes, put before the courts, only to be let out on bail to go on to reoffend.
“What is clear to my community is that serious repeat offenders must be held accountable. I have been listening; we cannot continue to have our courts give Bail without appropriate consequences for breeching that trust.
“Our community deserves to feel safe where they live and to know that perpetrators will be held accountable and not simply given a free ticket to reoffend”.
The expansion of Adult Crime Adult Time to stronger bail laws would add to the extra police, early intervention and rehabilitation – to restore safety to Rockhampton and Gracemere.
