  • Crisafulli Government delivers funding for ten regional projects that protect land, water and biodiversity across Queensland.
  • Projects will be delivered through the Crisafulli Government’s $117.8 million Natural Resource Management Expansion Program.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future and giving local NRM groups the tools they need to enhance regional communities.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future and supporting regional land managers, with 10 new projects receiving funding under the $117.8 million Natural Resource Management Expansion Program.

From reducing feral pig numbers in North-West Queensland to boosting fire management in the Burnett, the ten new projects will help protect Queensland’s land, water and biodiversity assets for future generations.

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last said the investment in regional environmental programs was putting local knowledge to work to deliver real results on the ground.

“This investment is about backing local NRM organisations who know their regions best and giving them the tools to get results on the ground,” Minister Last said.

“During Labor’s decade of decline, our state’s NRM groups were left high and dry without the meaningful funding they need to support the great work they do across Queensland.

“Through our $117.8 million Natural Resource Management Expansion Program, the Crisafulli Government is focused on practical action to strengthen Queensland’s natural environment and support regional communities.

“This program has been a game-changer, providing unprecedented support to protect our natural assets, tackle environmental challenges, and empower local organisations to make a lasting impact.”

NRM Regions Queensland CEO Chris Norman said the Natural Resource Management Expansion Program is designed to strengthen regional capacity and support long-term environmental outcomes.

“We’re thrilled to be delivering the Natural Resource Management Expansion Program in collaboration with the Queensland Government and we’re ready to work alongside regional communities to deliver outcomes for the environment and for the economy,” he said.

“Natural resource management, at its core, is about bringing people together to care for our natural assets – our land and soil, our water, and our precious biodiversity.”

Member for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland congratulates the Fitzroy Basin Association Ltd being awarded 1 of the 10 projects within the natural Resource Management Expansion Program.

“Fitzroy Basin Association Ltd is one of ten successful recipients under the Natural Resource Management Expansion Program. Their Marine Turtle Guardians project will support the health and survival of turtle nesting along the Capricorn and Curtis Coasts through targeted pest management and volunteer support. The Nature Positive Fitzroy Farms project will also work with Brigalow Country land managers to improve land and soil condition, restore native vegetation, protect threatened King Blue Grass and enhance important koala habitat. This funding supports practical, on‑ground environmental outcomes for our region.”
