2025 My Home Awards – Entries are open!

  • Entries are now open for the 2025 My Home Awards, celebrating local gardens, home and community pride.
  • Awards celebrate public housing tenants who take pride in their homes, gardens and communities.
  • Public Housing Tenants are encouraged to get involved by Friday 26 September 2025 – winners will be announced in December 2025.

Public housing tenants across Rockhampton and Gracemere are invited to showcase their creativity, care, and community spirit in the 2025 My Home Awards, now officially open for entries.

The My Home Awards celebrates Queenslanders who take pride in their homes and gardens, transforming everyday spaces into vibrant reflections of resilience, sustainability, and neighbourly connection.

State Member for Rockhampton, Donna Kirkland MP is encouraging local public housing tenants to get involved before entries close at 5pm on Friday, 26 September 2025.

“The My Home Awards are about celebrating everyday Queenslanders who create something special in their own backyards and community areas, no matter the size of your block or garden, I encourage all public housing tenants to have a go.”

“These awards recognise not just the beautiful and fulfilling results, but the community spirit and love of gardening that goes into it.

“And  my congratulations to Kaylene Oates of North Rockhampton who was awarded highly commended and runner up for the Courtyard last year. I enjoyed a visit to Kaylene recently to talk about her garden and what it meant to her to enter the My Home Awards.” Kirkland said.

Kayleen Oates said she gets so much joy from working in her garden and the community common area in her public housing units.

“Gardening has brought us together, especially the older tenants. I also love making things useful by recycling and getting things from the Trendy Trash centre at the local landfill.”

“I am so excited that I have already nominated for this year” Mrs Oats said.

Entry is free and open to Queensland public housing tenants of all ages.

There are five (5) Garden Categories and one (1) Good Neighbour category.

  • House garden
  • Courtyard garden
  • Balcony garden
  • Edible garden
  • Communal garden

Entries can be made online, emailed or in person – tenants can enter more than one category.
